CCEE’s online Master of Civil Engineering program ranks No. 4 in U.S.

CCEE’s online Master of Civil Engineering program was ranked No. 4 in the country on U.S. News & World Report’s 2022 Best Online Programs list, rising seven spots from 2021. The consumer media organization evaluated more than 1,700 online bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in this year’s rankings. The ranking methodologies are based on factors such as student engagement, faculty credentials, and student services and technology, according to U.S. News & World Report.

“The uncertainty caused by the pandemic may result in more people considering the merits of an online education,” said Liana Loewus, managing editor of Education at U.S. News & World Report. “As students consider what’s right for them and their schedules, they can use the data provided by U.S. News to research their options and make informed decisions about their academic future.”

CCEE’s Master of Civil Engineering (MCE) degree can be completed through Engineering Online. It is intended for graduate students who are interested in studies to prepare for professional careers in civil engineering. The department offers a parallel degree in environmental engineering.  With numerous courses available each semester, CCEE’s distance education students can customize their degrees to support their area of professional interest. The online degree requires the completion of 10 courses, which some students complete in as little as two years, though three to four years is more typical given their other responsibilities.

“I have always enjoyed teaching in our online program because I get a sense that the students are using class information very quickly, and students often bring their own real-world examples into the virtual classroom,” says Department Head Dr. Morton Barlaz.
