Education That Works
Our students work hard. In turn, our department works hard for them. The undergraduate and graduate degrees focus on the improvement and care of built and natural environments. As leaders in research and teaching, we prepare our graduates to excel in their careers and make a difference in the world.
Bachelor of Science
Civil engineers build durable infrastructure for safe and efficient energy, shelter and transportation. Our civil engineering program is ranked 16th in the nation. Construction engineers design and build quality structures for living and work. Environmental engineers develop sustainable solutions that keep our air and water clean and the land safe for habitation. Our environmental engineering program is ranked 13th in the nation. Read more about our undergraduate programs and various student and career opportunities.
Our Master of Science degrees (MSCE, MSENE) with thesis are intended for graduate students interested in advanced research. Our non-thesis master’s degrees (MCE, MENE) are designed to prepare students for professional engineering careers and can be completed online or in the classroom.
Doctor of Philosophy
The Doctor of Philosophy in Civil Engineering is pursued by outstanding students with an intense interest in independent study and research. It requires advanced coursework and research beyond the master’s degree, a written and oral comprehensive preliminary examination, a written dissertation, and a final oral defense of the research.
Our Master’s and Ph.D. Degrees
Can’t make it to campus? Through Engineering Online, we offer two non-thesis master’s degrees (MCE, MENE) with specialization in the seven areas listed above.
