Usman completed his masters degree in Civil Engineering, with specialization in Transportation Engineering from National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences Lahore Pakistan. He has six years of post graduate academic experience and one year of industrial experience. He is pursuing his PhD degree in Transportation Infrastructure’s Engineering and Geomatics, in the department of Engineering, at Sustainable Multi-functional Automated Resilient Transport Infrastructures laboratory SMARTIlab UNIPA in Universita Degli Studi Di Palermo Italy under the supervision of Prof. Davide Lo Presti. His PhD project is funded by PON R&I 2014-2020 – Action IV.4 “Doctorates and research contracts on innovation topics” Action IV.5 “Doctorates on Green Topics, MUR Italy. As a part of his PhD project, he worked as a research scholar in department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering at NC State University United States under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Youngsoo Richard Kim.

Research Description
Usman is currently involved in LIVE LABS development for more sustainable road and airport pavements. His research interests mainly includes: 1. Modeling and study of pavement materials • Constitutive modeling of asphalt materials • Asphalt binder rheology and chemistry • Mechanistic study of pavement materials • Performance evaluation of pavement materials • Uncertainty quantification and probabilistic characterization 2. Pavement performance prediction and modeling • Performance assessment of pavements • Impact of external factors on pavement performance • Uncertainty in design and analysis of pavements 3. Pavement infrastructure and systems analysis • Pavement infrastructure resilience modeling • Pavement systems analysis and management • Impact assessment and adaptation methodologies • Pavement infrastructure asset management
