CCEE student Anand Bhatt was among eight scholars selected as North Carolina Space Grant Summer 2023 interns. They worked toward advancing on their summer-long projects that have real-world applications and implications at NASA centers and aerospace companies.
Each year, NC Space Grant collaborates with NASA centers, industry partners and research organizations to provide hands-on research experiences to higher-education students through meaningful internships.
“Internships provide students valuable mentoring and hands-on research experiences in various sectors of the space industry, and often lead to career opportunities,” Jobi Cook, associate director of NC Space Grant and manager of the intern program, said.
Bhatt worked with Collier Aerospace, automating engineering tasks with coding methods to speed up the design process using company software and different scripting techniques in Python and C languages.
“The goals of my internship [were] to increase my understanding of the design process within the aerospace industry and apply my knowledge of coding, structural analysis, and design to better help the company provide engineering support to clients,” Bhatt said.
