Abstract:  On April 30, 2020, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency proposed to retain, without revision, the current National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for particulate matter (PM), including annual and 24-hour standards for fine particles (PM2.5). The public comment period for this proposed rule is open through June 29, 2020. This webinar will focus on the statutory requirements for the NAAQS, how NAAQS have been reviewed prior to 2017, the various ad hoc changes implemented during the current PM NAAQS review, recommendations of the dismissed PM review panel and of EPA’s Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee, scientific evidence since the last review, and analysis of the Administrator’s rationale for proposing to retain the current standards.
