CCEE alumni Otis Crowder and Joseph Bordeaux were recognized for their achievements in engineering by construction industry group Carolinas Associated General Contractors (AGC) as Class of 2022 Hall of Fame/Legacy winners. The winners will be honored at the 2022 Carolinas AGC 2022 Summer Summit on July 21-24 in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

Otis Crowder, who was inducted into the CCEE Hall of Fame in 2020, earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with Construction Option in 1970. Crowder joined his family’s business, Crowder Construction Co., upon graduation and went on to serve as president, chairman, and board member of the company and its subsidiaries. Crowder Construction and its subsidiaries have received numerous industry awards for project excellence and safety from Carolinas AGC, AGC of America, American Council of Engineering Companies, The Design-Build Institute of America, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, N.C. Department of Labor, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Crowder has been active in many community organizations including The American Heart Association Greater Charlotte Walk Executive Leadership Team and Habitat for Humanity and also served on the NC State Engineering Foundation.

Joseph Bordeaux, who passed away in 2020 at age 89, earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering in 1958 after serving in the U.S. Army. The Harnett County, North Carolina, native founded Bordeaux Construction Company Inc. in 1977 with his wife, Agnes. The Raleigh, North Carolina-based company continues as a third-generation family business with projects across North Carolina and annual sales exceeding $75 million, according to its website.
