Congratulations to our Fall 2017 Graduates!

On Thursday December 14th an enthusiastic gathering of faculty, family, and friends attended the Fall graduation ceremony honoring our Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering graduates. The ceremony, held at the McKimmon Center, was also streamed live so those unable to travel could hear the commencement speakers and watch their friends or family walk across the stage. There were a total of 75 students receiving Bachelor of Science degrees, and 50 students who received Master’s degrees. Additionally there were 15 individuals who were awarded their Ph.D.

Christine Herrick, P.E. (BSCE 2011) served as the 2017 Fall Graduation speaker. She is seen here congratulating one of our graduates.

CCEE extends our thanks to our graduation speaker Christine Nguyen Herrick, P.E. a 2011 graduate of our department. Herrick, a project engineer with Kimley-Horn, held the audience’s attention with a mix of humor, and serious reflection on goals achieved and goals still ahead for this year’s graduates. As a young alumna, Herrick has already given back to the department in many ways, including serving as the Chairman of the Paul Zia Lecture Series committee during 2017. She urged graduates to stay in touch with the department and each other, and told them they’d probably be surprised at who showed up in their ‘inbox’ in the coming years. She also emphasized the importance of remaining confident and persistent, and continuing to set goals.

Below are a few images from our ceremony and more can be seen on our Facebook page.
