CCEE Senior Haniyyah Chapman awarded prestigious NSF Graduate Fellowship

Haniyyah Chapman graduates on May 13th with a BS in Environmental Engineering from the Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering Department. She’s one of only 15 NC State undergraduates who was awarded a 2017 NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. The NSF Fellowship is amongst the most prestigious awards that are awarded to graduate students. The NSF received more than 13,000 applications and made 2,000 award offers nationwide. The Fellowship provides a monthly stipend as well as allowance for tuition and fees to support individuals who are pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Chapman plans on pursuing a Ph.D at Virginia Tech. Her research focus is reclaimed water, and she plans to study how the chemistry and microbiology of reclaimed water change with time.
