FAQ:

Waive or Enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan Emails:  Do you need to take action?

Students eligible for the NCSU RA-TA plan (GSSP eligible students only) will be automatically waived from the University Mandatory Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) without any further action.  If a student would like to manually waive out of the SHIP using their alternate coverage (NSCU RA-TA plan) for added peace of mind or to prompt accelerated removal of the University Mandatory Health Insurance Plan charge from their billing account, they can do so.

Interim Period between policies, What to do.

If you incur any medical expenses or need to see a doctor while waiting for your insurance card, pay any cost out of pocket then submit/file a claim once the card it received.

How to waive the University’s Mandatory Student Insurance Plan:

The Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) premium will appear on your student account once you register for courses and if you meet all the invoking criteria. The premium can be removed from the account by submitting an online waiver by the posted deadline. Be aware that if you fail to waive coverage, the premium for SHIP is non-refundable after the posted deadline each semester. If you wish to enroll in SHIP, we encourage you to do so as soon as the enrollment period opens. This ensures you will receive an insurance card prior to the plan effective date each semester.

Please note, If you neither waive nor enroll into SHIP by the posted deadline you will automatically be enrolled after the posted deadline.  The Fall 2015 deadline is September 10th.  The insurance premium is non-refundable after the above deadline.

Health insurance premiums are not included in the total cost of attendance. Students who purchase the University’s health insurance plan may contact their financial aid counselor to request the expense be included in their individual cost of attendance.
